All the games that survived the weather this weekend in the League were played on Astroturf with four Clubs switching venues to enable matches to take place. Division Two East Sporting Club Woodham and Tillingham Hotspur took part in a closely fought encounter which was affected by the strong wind. Tillingham Hotspur took the lead on 18 minutes when the wind held the ball up on the edge of the area which meant the Sporting Club Woodham keeper couldn’t use his hands as he challenged for the ball. It broke to Scott Jones who rolled the ball into the net. Sporting Club Woodham equalised on the half hour when Aaron Smith finished at the far post. Picture is Ryan

Feb 1, 2014 — New Club/Team Applications for Season 2014/15


Applications for new Clubs or additional Teams of existing Clubs are now open. The closing date for applications from new Clubs is the 20th April 2014. Jan 26, 2014 — Match Reports 25th January 2014


Essex Saturday Veterans Cup Quarter Final There was an upset as ten man Sungate from Division One came from behind to beat Premier Division Port of London Authority 6-5 on penalties after the game had finished two all after extra time. This was Sungate’s fourth game in the competition which is one more than the number of League games they have played this season. Picture is Tillingham Hotspur

Jan 19, 2014 — Match Reports 18th January 2014


Division Two West Last season Hale End Athletic and Maidonians suffered lots of frustration with their shared pitch at the Britannia Sports Ground regularly being under water. Such was the frustration they both switched to Astroturf pitches this season and both were rewarded by being able to play on Saturday although with different rewards. Maidonians beat third placed Little Thurrock Dynamos Reserves 3-0 with two goals from Teddy Sherringham and one from Martin Bellamy, whilst Hale End Athletic went down 2-1 to Britannia. Premier Division Met Police Chigwell will be delighted they don’t have to play White Notley again this season. Having lost to them twice already this season, conceding four goals each time, this time they found themselves five goals down at half time as Gavin Bensley and Mark King both scored braces and Neil Twin got the other for the visitors. Nov 10, 2013 — Match Reports 9th November 2013


Essex Saturday Veterans Cup 2nd Round Two Premier Division sides suffered cup upsets with White Notley losing 3-1 at Division Three West side Paringdon and previous winners Springfield going down 2-1 to Sungate of Division One. There was very nearly a surprise at Chelmer where the Division Two East side led 2-1 against Division One Newbury Park with a minute to play of the second half. Newbury Park managed to equalise and then score a goal in each period of extra time to progress 4-2. Picture is Newbury Park

Oct 28, 2013 — Match Reports 26th October 2013


Premier Division League leaders Little Thurrock Dynamos lost their 100% record as they went down 3-1 to Met Police Chigwell whose goals came from Gabby Williams 2 and Stuart Jones. Springfield moved back up to second place after the completed the double over Hutton Old Boys thanks to first half goals by Neil Fergus, Gary Gosling and Rod McGurk.
