LIFE SAVERS
People sometimes talk about football being a case of life or death, on Saturday for Chris Ball of BSC (Bishops Stortford) Over 45’s it was. Just before half time in the match against Dunmow Rhodes Chris fell to the ground with a heart attack. Luckily for Chris, Mick Margaritis of BSC and Tony Brown of Dunmow Rhodes put their first aid training to use and commenced CPR. They were then assisted by the Grange Paddocks staff and Dr Rebecca Thorpe who was just about to take her daughter swimming at the Centre.
Chris was flown by Air Ambulance to the Specialist Heart Unit at Stevenage Hospital where he underwent a procedure for a blocked artery. Chris is on a ventilator but the prognosis is he is on the way to making a full recovery. The Air Ambulance Doctor believes the outcome would have been different if it hadn’t been for the quick actions of all those involved before the Air Ambulance arrived.
BSC (Bishops Stortford) want to pass on their thanks for everyone’s help and best wishes.
I am sure you will all join me in wishing Chris a full and speedy recovery.
