MATCH REPORTS 16TH FEBRUARY 2013


Premier Division

Little Thurrock Dynamos kept up their title charge with a 3-2 win against Springfield. After their defeat in the League Cup the previous week Port of London Authority returned to winning ways with a 2-1 victory over Shenfield.

Division One

Chipping Ongar returned to the top of the table with a 3-0 win at third placed Newbury Park.

Division Two League Cup

FOBS (East Hanningfield) and Hale End Athletic finally got their second round tie played thanks to Highfield Victoria of the Pope and Smith Sunday League who hosted the game on their pitch. Hale End Athletic progressed thanks to a goal in each half.

In the Quarter Finals Hawkwell Athletic scored through Mark Dunn, Terry McGrath and Trevor Sallery against Cricketers Horndon Saxons but it wasn’t enough as the visitors scored six times to earn their Semi Final place.

Division Two West

A surprise at Maidonians where the hosts won for the first time in the League this season thanks to the only goal of the game against the League Leaders Bishops Stortford.

Division Three East

Great Baddow missed the chance to go top as they crashed to a 4-1 defeat against Chelmer Vets. A brace each from Warren Backhouse and Paul Rippengale lifted Chelmer Vets to fifth in the table with four games in hand of the leaders

Division Three West

Heath Park went top of the table after a high scoring encounter with Debden Sports. A Paul Hayes hat-trick, Danny Henwood, Terry Hobbrough and Paul Phipps scored for the hosts with Debden Sports replies coming from James Crossley, Tony Maslin and their new signing.

Division Four League Cup Semi Final

Dave Newbery’s 88th minute winner earned Fulbrook Royals their place in the Final at the expense of Old Chelmsfordians Reserves but Fulbrook Royals match winner was their goal keeper Tony Robinson. Things hadn’t started well for Robinson when he came for an easy cross after 24 minutes however his Centre Back Steve Gee chested the ball past him to put the visitors one up. Martin Newman pulled Fulbrook Royals level from a corner before half time. The second half belonged to Tony Robinson as he pulled off save after save including showing his bravery by three times diving at forwards feet in one on one situations.
