MATCH REPORTS 16TH MARCH 2013


Premier Division

Little Thurrock Dynamos prepared well for their County Cup Final on Wednesday night with a 3-0 win over White Notley. Sungate will be pleased to be playing someone other than Met Police Chigwell next week having suffered a second consecutive 6-0 defeat to the same opponents. This week’s scorers for Met Police Chigwell were Dave Sittle 2, Glen Leach, Nicholas Stagg, Gabby Williams and Stuart Jones. Hutton Old Boys moved up to fourth place with games in hand due to a 4-1 win at Port of London Authority. Springfield got off to a flying start by taking a second minute lead against Frenford Senior courtesy of an own goal. Springfield then doubled their lead thanks to an unstoppable twenty five yarder by Rob Farmer. Just before half time Frenford Senior halved the deficit thanks to Rob Sharpe. Frenford Senior pushed hard for an equaliser but were caught on the break with nineteen minutes to go as Springfield wrapped up a 3-1 win. Another game that finished with the same score line was at Shenfield where the visitors Bowers & Pitsea (Vichouse) claimed all the points.

Division One

It is now over 540 minutes since Chipping Ongar conceded a goal in a Greene King Essex Veterans competition game. This time it was Herongate Athletic who failed to breach their defence. The Chipping Ongar attack also did their job by scoring five times. Manford Way kept up the chase thanks to an own goal against Newbury Park. The two other games in the Division both resulted in 7-1 home wins as Old Chelmsfordians beat Old Parmiterians thanks to goals from Simon Bowling 2, Paul Groom, Peter Bowyer, Matthew Fletcher, Brett Lattimore and Alex Wilson. Whilst Rosebay’s scorers against Britannia were Daniel Kirby 3, Matthew Rivers 2, Chris Meredith and John Shippey, the visitor’s consolation came from Filipe Sollof

Division Two East

Cricketers Horndon Saxons suffered their first League defeat of the season as they went down 2-0 at League leaders Hawkwell Athletic. Second placed Tillingham Hotspur have picked just the wrong time to hit a rocky patch of form. This week they went down 3-1 at Dunmow Rhodes. The hosts goals game from David Badham 2 and Ben Hogan. Although they had less of the ball, White Ensign made good use of the possession they had to move up to third by beat Sporting Club Woodham 5-1. Sporting Club Woodham’s goal came from substitute Simon Arnold. At the other end of the table Pavilion United beat Leigh Ramblers 4-2. Pavilion United’ goals coming from Paul Humphreys 2, Mark Barry and Paul Freeman. Leigh Ramblers goal’s came from Howard Mackler and Jamie Torhurst. The bottom two met in a game switched to Witham. FOBS (East Hanningfield) dominated the possession but only forced Steve Edkins in the Herongate Athletic Reserves goal to make one save of note. The game was settled in the 25th minute when Paul Biss turned in a Clifton Lansiquot cross to give Herongate Athletic Reserves their first win of the season.

Division Two West

Having lost at home to Blackmore Royals last week, Bishops Stortford got revenge this week with a 4-2 win in the return fixture. Bishops Stortford’s scorers were Joe Ferrick 2, Andy Bates and Ken Trayling. Second placed West Essex suffered their first league defeat of the season going down 3-1 at Maidonians. West Essex’s goal came from Anthony Chugs. This enabled Hale End Athletic in third place to close the gap with a 4-2 home win against Harold Wood Athletic. Darren Braithwaite scored for Old Parmiterians Reserves but it was not enough as Collier Row scored five times in reply.

Division Three East

Leaders Chelmer Vets beat Blackmore Royals Reserves 4-0, among their scorers were Warren Backhouse, Paul Dexter and Steve May. Shenfield Reserves kept themselves in the hunt by hitting Peverel for six without reply. Goals from Stuart Gooch and Lee Sterland propelled Writtle up to third place as they beat White Roding. Henderson Casuals inflicted Silver End United’s first league defeat of the season as they ran out 3-0 winners.

Division Three South

Hockley and Hawkwell’s promotion hopes took a severe dent as they went down 4-2 against Sporting Club Woodham Reserves. Hockley and Hawkwell’s goals came from an own goal and Matthew Lansley, while Simon Wraight 2, David Cornwell and Robert White secured Sporting Club Woodham’s victory. No such problems for Runwell Town as Colin Yellop 2, Bill Smith 2, Steve Skinner and Rory O’Connor scored to beat Leigh Town. A brace from Anthony Clarke gave Benfleet a 2-1 win at Cricketers Horndon Saxons Reserves.

Division Three West

Heath Park also prepared well for the County Cup Final by thrashing Hornminster 7-0 thanks to braces from Vinnie Webster, Danny Henwood and Lee Fulling and a single strike from Paul Hayes. Debden Sports were also had a goal feast in beating North Weald 10-2. Half of their goals came from Tony Maslin with the other coming from a Martin Roddam hat trick, Glenn Brown and Alan Marks. Paringdon managed to play only their fourth League game since 17th November as they beat Sanders 5-1. William Fitt managed their first win since October as goals from Andrew Barron and Barry Smithson were enough to see off Westhamians who were playing their first home League game of the season.

Division Four East

This Division is the tightest of them all with five teams still in the promotion hunt. Nigel Mead 2, Karl Hayes and a Simon Beal penalty saw Leaders Rayleigh to a 4-2 win over Hannakins Farm. Second placed Horndon are enjoying one of their best season’s in League are one point behind. A 25th minute strike from Jamie Bailey gave them a half time lead. Vince Boswell in the 65th minute and Kevin Scorey in the 80th minute wrapped a 3-1 win. Old Chelmsfordians are up to third after a 3-0 win over Academy Soccer. Hutton Old Boys Reserves trialled to two first half goals from White Notley’s Josh Groves but fought back in the second half to win thanks to Lee Brown, Jonathan Webster and Stephen Sinclair. The only one of the promotion chasing sides to slip up Ludlows who went down 4-0 Ford Basildon Reserves.

Division Four West

Hatfield Broad Oak scored four goals for the third game on the trot as they beat Hornchurch 4-2 to keep up their promotion charge. Nick Blackham-Hayward scored twice in the first half and then completed his hat trick inn the 57th minute. John Newman completed their scoring in the 77th minute.  Hatfield Broad Oak will be promoted if they win their two remaining games however they face West Essex Reserves next week who are a point behind a game in hand. West Essex Reserves kept up the pressure with a 5-1 win over Lowhall. West Essex Reserves goals came from Darren Johnson 3 and David Ludlow 2, Vernon Gutzmore replied for Lowhall. Fulbrook Royals were another team who prepared well for their Cup Final beating Old Parmiterians A 6-2. Dave Newbery 3, Chris Jones, Ian Aldridge and Kevin Hunt scored for the Cup Finalist’s with Glenn Jackson and Chris Granger replying in th second half of Old Parmiterians A.
