MATCH REPORTS 30TH MARCH 2013


Premier Division

Having won the County Cup on Wednesday, Little Thurrock Dynamos celebrated by beating Frenford Senior 4-0. Met Police Chigwell who they meet in the League Cup Final prepared well by beating Springfield 4-1. A brace of penalties by Edward Nwachukwu along with a goal each from John Taylor and Glen Leach gave them the points. Hutton Old Boys moved up to third by hitting White Notley for six without reply.

Division One

A 12th minute overhead flick by David Gipp of Chipping Ongar was enough to settle the meeting of the top two, although the width of the crossbar prevented Manford Way from equalising. Far more goals at Herongate Athletic where visitors Beacon Hill led at 4-1 at half time before the home side scored three second half goals to earn a point.

Division Two East

White Ensign moved up to second thanks to a single first half strike against Dunmow Rhodes. Goals from Howard Mackler and Jamie Torhurst gave Leigh Ramblers a 2-1 win over Cricketers Horndon Saxons.

Division Two West

The only one of the top four celebrating on Saturday were leaders Bishops Stortford who didn’t play as the next three sides all dropped points. The biggest surprise was Ryan picking up their first win of the season at the expense of second placed West Essex. Marc Brown, Stephen Lake and John Larkin were their goal scorers with the West Essex replies coming from Greg Blackett and Chris Bangura. Harold Wood Athletic also lost but this was less of a surprise Maidonians have now won five of their last six games. Hale End Athletic managed to pick up a point as they shared eight goals with Blackmore Royals.

Division Three East

Chelmer Vets extended their lead at the top of the table to five points as Warren Backhouse 2, Simon Marshall, Paul Rippengale, Simon Clarke and Michael Riley scored in their 6-1 win at Springfield Reserves. Writtle moved up to second thanks to a 4-2 win at Peverel. Henderson Casuals in fourth are on the same number of points as Writtle after their 2-1 win at Great Baddow. At the other end of the table White Roding gave their chances of staying up a major boost as David Molt 2, Douglas Rowe and Dominic Boom scored in their 4-1 win at Blackmore Royals Reserves.

Division Three South

Little Thurrock Dynamos A kept up their title charge with a 4-1 win at Hannakins Farm. Jon Ward’s second half goal for Hockley & Hawkwell gave them a point against Sporting Club Woodham Reserves. Benfleet picked up their first win since mid-November and they did it in some style as they thrashed Leigh Town 7-0. Benfleet’s scorers were Dominic Markham 3, David Johnson 2, Malcolm Taylor and an own goal.

Division Three West

Tony Maslin’s hat trick for Debden Sports took him to the top of this Division’s goal scoring charts. Martin Roddam added two and a further goal from Barry Pope gave Debden Sports a 6-1 win over William Fitt whose consolation cam from Barry Smithson. Substitute Mark Lovett’s second half strike gave Westhamians the points against Rainham Working Mens Club. Another side to break a long winless streak were North Weald who picked up their first points since September. Stuart Brown 2, Paul Saye and Sean Horrican scored against Hornminster with Brian Wallace and Steven McBride replying for the visitors.

Division Four East

Rayleigh kept top spot as they beat ground sharers Academy Soccer 3-1. Old Chelmsfordians Reserves leapfrogged Horndon into second place with a 5-1. Horndon’s reply came from Hamit Mehmet. Ludlows and Hutton Old Boys Reserves are both still in the promotion hunt after they drew 2-2. Ludlows scorers were Mark Read and Martin Beckley. Runwell Hospital are enjoying their most successful season in their eighth year in the competition. Saturday’s win against Hannakins Farm Reserves thanks to Kevin Gates goal was their fifth win in all competitions this season.

Division Four West

Lowhall climbed off the bottom of the table as Joe Skingley and Bob Burgess gave them victory over Newport. Another side who moved up the table were Hornchurch who started the day one place above Lowhall. This was thanks to a 3-2 home win over Old Parmiterians A. The visitors goals came from Ray Prentice and Kenny Ballard.
