MATCH REPORTS 4TH JANUARY 2014

Division Two West

Not a Happy New Year for Nick Weekly of Bishop Stortford who’s broken leg brought an early halt to their game with Hale End Athletic. We wish Nick a speedy recovery.

Division Three East

A much happier start to the year for FOBS who collected their first home points of the season at Silver End United’s expense. Eric Thomas started the ball rolling after seven minutes by beating the Silver End United goal keeper to the ball from a throw in. The key incident happened on thirty three minutes when a sloppy pass let Silver End United in one on one on the FOBS goal however Darren Moslin came out bravely to save. From his clearance Paul Callow latched onto a back header and coolly lobbed the hosts into a two goal lead. Just before half time Paul Callow again latched on to another mistake to give FOBS a three goal advantage. On the hour Jack Tuckerman shot home a fourth from the edge of the box. Eight minutes later Miles Keeble lashed in a twenty yarder to give Silver End United hope. Sadly for the visitors this hope lasted two minutes as Darren Blackburn turned a cross into his own net to restore FOBS four goal cushion.  Andy Johnson completed the scoring with a consolation goal for Silver End United as the game finished 5-2.

Division Four League Cup

Forest Glade were the only away team not to suffer defeat on Saturday but they had to do it the hard way to earn their Semi Final place at Peverel’s expense. Jonathan Kohn and Glen Worrall had given the hosts a 2-1 half time lead. Stuart Daltrey, Ritchie Simpkins and Alan Stanlick goals ensured Forest glade progressed.

Division Four West

Second half goals from Spencer Dennis and Richard Heath enabled Sanders to come back from a halftime deficit against White Roding Reserves.

Over 45 Division

Questions are being asked if Alun Wood of Old Parmiterians was given a new pair of boots for Christmas. Having only scored one goal in his previous six appearances he found the net four times against Herongate Athletic. Andy Gombas also found the net with Paul King managing Herongate Athletic’s sole reply. Doddinghurst Olympic beat Glassmasters 4-1 with Paul Watson contributing a hat trick. Glassmasters reply came from Stephen Hall
