MATCH REPORTS 9TH MARCH 2013


Premier Division

Leaders Little Thurrock Dynamos dropped their first away points of the season as they drew one all at Frenford Senior. This enabled second placed Met Police Chigwell to close the gap at the top to six points with a 6-0 win over Sungate. Nicholas Stagg gave Met Police Chigwell a half time lead before second half goals from Gabby Williams 2, Edward Nwachukwu, Glen Leach and Stuart Jones wrapped up the win. Hutton Old Boys and Shenfield meet for the second week running although it was a lot closer this week as it took a single goal five minutes from time to give Hutton Old Boys the points. Plenty of goals at Springfield where visitors White Notley ran out 5-3 winners. Stacey Dawes hat trick took him to second place in the Premier Division goal charts, with Snooker player Mark King’s brace being his first goals of the season. Reigning Champions Port of London Authority kept up hopes of retaining their crown with a 4-1 win over Bowers & Pitsea (Vichouse).

Division One

A fluid performance from Chipping Ongar gave them a 3-0 win over Beacon Hill Rovers. Britannia kept their first clean sheet of the season as they beat Old Parmiterians 2-0

Division Two East

In the battle of the top two Hawkwell Athletic ran out 3-2 winners over Tillingham Hotspur.  Although they are nine points behind the leaders Cricketers Horndon Saxons have five games in hand so their 4-1 win over FOBS (East Hanningfield) kept them in the hunt for the title. Cricketers Horndon Saxons goals came from Jamie Crowhurst, Steven Nicholas, Stephen Smallman and Anthony Woodbury. FOBS (East Hanningfield)’s reply came from Paul Callow. Strangely enough White Ensign who are also nine points behind Hawkwell Athletic with five games in hand also won 4-1 their opponents being Pavilion United. The visitors goal being a first of the season for Paul Freeman.

Division Two West

Second placed Bishops Stortford have hit a rocky patch of form at just the wrong time. Visitors Blackmore Royals inflicted a third consecutive defeat on their hosts by winning 2-1. Maidonians on the other hand are hitting form as they fight at the other end of the table. Their 7-0 win over Ryan was their third win in their last four games.

Division Three League Cup Semi Finals

Paul Hayes with two and Danny Henwood scored to send Heath Park into the Final at the expense of Debden Sports. Heath Park will meet Writtle who won 3-1 at Silver End United.

Division Three East

A Warren Backhouse first half penalty was enough to send Chelmer Vets top of the table as they beat previous leaders Shenfield Reserves.

Division Three South

Second placed Ford Basildon opened up a six point lead on third placed Hockley& Hawkwell by beating their hosts by four goals without reply. Hannakins Farm and Leigh Town shared six goals.

Division Three West

With third placed Met Police Chigwell Reserves meeting fourth placed Hornminster a close game was to be expected and that is how it turned out with Ade Adelekan scoring for the hosts with Hornminster sub Paul Cook replying for Hornminster

Division Four East

Leaders Rayleigh’s run of seven consecutive home league wins came to a crashing end as Old Chelmsfordians Reserves won 5-0. Hutton Old Boys Reserves kept up their chase for the League and Cup double with a 4-2 win over Academy Soccer.

Division Four West

The first issue of season was resolved on Saturday as Doddinghurst Olympic gained promotion as a result of their 4-2 win at Hornchurch. Trevor Sharpling with two, Paul Boor and Paul Watson providing their goals with David Oakley and Chris Marshall replying for Hornchurch. David Milne gave Hatfield Broad Oak a 30th minute lead at Old Parmiterians A however the hosts equalised a minute before half time thanks to Xavier Young. Two John Newman goals in a five minute spell shortly after half time put Hatfield Broad Oak back in control before Wayne Edwards pulled one back just before the hour. John Newman completed his hat trick and the scoring on 73 minutes to make it 4-2. The only side who can deny Doddinghurst Olympic the title are third placed West Essex Reserves who returned to winning ways after last week’s slip up against Lowhall. Darren Johnson certainly wanted to avoid a repeat of the previous week by completing a hat trick inside the first 38 minutes. David Strong and David Ludlow also scored in the first half as they raced into a 5-1 half time lead against Cup Finalists Fulbrook Royals. Darren Johnson got his fourth in the second half as West Essex Reserves ran out 6-3 winners which ended Fulbrook Royals promotion hopes. Fulbrook Royals goals can from Martin Newman 2 and Alfred Koroma
