Premier Division
The game of the day was the meeting of the early pacesetters Little Thurrock Dynamos and Hutton Old Boys which did not disappoint. A nine goal thriller including four penalties was edged 5-4 by visitors Hutton Old Boys. Met Police Chigwell left it late but an 89th minute goal from Stuart Jones was enough to take all three points from their visit to Bowers & Pitsea (Vichouse). Stacey Dawes and Gavin Bensley both scored for White Notley last week but got no reward. They didn’t intend the same to happen this week as they both scored doubles to help their team to a 4-3 victory over Springfield. Sungate picked up their first points of the season thanks to a 6-2 win over Shenfield.
Division One
Chipping Ongar travelled to Rosebay and came away with the points thanks to a 5-1 win which lifts them to the top of the table. Previous leaders Manford Way were held 1-1 by Britannia. Franklyn Hurte scoring for Manford Way with Kes Outhwaite for Britannia. Old Chelmsfordians recorded their first win of the season in some style against previously unbeaten Beacon Hill Rovers. They raced into a 5-0 lead inside 28 minutes and then managed to double that it the second half. Patrick Fairman scored four times with the other goals coming from Stephen Parry, David Tant, Nick Wright, Paul Groom, Michael Kilbey and James Wright.
Division Two League Cup
After being level at one all at half time Leigh Ramblers ensured their passage to the next round of the Cup with five second half goals against Little Thurrock Dynamos Reserves. Leigh Ramblers goals cam via Trevor Kernott 2, Jon Selby, Colin Wall, Steve Isbell and a Howard Mackler penalty. A single second half goal from substitute Mark Dunn was enough for Hawkwell Athletic to progress at the expense of Harold Wood Athletic. For the second time in three games Blackmore Royals lost after leading 1-0 at half time. White Ensign second half goals came from Stuart Kavanagh 2, Jamie Wallace and Daniel Yates. Blackmore’s goals coming from Stephen Shaw and an own goal.
Division Two East
Tillingham Hotspur maintained their excellent start to the season with an 11-1 mauling of hosts Herongate Athletic. The host’s consolation coming from Martin Westacott after 74 minutes. Another side to pull back a 1-0 half time deficit was Pavilion United who scored via Chris Jones 2 and Bob Vernon away at Dunmow Rhodes to win 3-2. In the other game in the Division Cricketers Horndon Saxons beat Sporting Club Woodham 3-0.
Division Two West
West Essex went to the top of the table thanks to a 5-0 win at Old Parmiterians Reserves. Chris Bangura scored twice for the second consecutive week with Greg Blackett, Michael Jones and Andy Branchflower getting the others. Bishops Stortford took the game away from Maidonians with goals from Andy Bate, Joe Feerick and Deane Cooper in the first fifteen minutes then Stuart Crowhurst added two in the second half without reply. Ryan subs Peter Dawes and Stephen Lake’s goals were not enough as they went down 3-2 at Collier Row.
Division Three League Cup
Sporting Club Woodham Reserves led 3-1 with twenty minutes to go against Debden Sports. An Alan Marks hat trick, Michael Carter and Steve Gane scored for Debden but the talking point was how the Debden keeper Jon Wheeler somehow managed to turn the ball up onto the crossbar where it bounced twice before going over with the score at 4-3.
Division Three East
Another tight game this time at Henderson Casuals where the home side game from behind at half time to win 5-4 against White Roding. The visitor’s goals came from Boom, Copland, Rowe and North. Writtle enjoyed their visit to Blackmore Royals Reserves where they scored eight times without reply. The local derby between Springfield Reserves and Great Baddow finished three a piece.
Division Three South
Three sides maintained their 100% records in this Division. Runwell Town took a half time lead through Steve Skinner and completed the win thanks to two goals from Mark Buckland against Benfleet. A thrilling game between Leigh Town and Little Thurrock Dynamos had goals from start to finish as Leigh Town took a first minute lead but lost by the odd goal in eleven with the winner coming in the final minute of added time. Ford Basildon jumped to the top of the table by crushing Hullbridge Sports 10-2. Hannakins Farm got their first win of the season by beating Cricketers Horndon Saxons Reserves 3-0.
Division Three West
After a goal less first half Terry Sharpe and Stuart Wilson found their shooting boots with doubles for Met Police Chigwell Reserves at North Weald. Westhamians won 5-2 at Sanders thanks to goals from Richie Hill 2, Danny Evans, George Bispham and Jason Beackon. Paringdon drew three all with Rainham Working Mens Club.
Division Four League Cup
Hornchurch led 2-1 at half time thanks to goals from Lee Nightingill and David Smith however Rayleigh scored three second half goals to book a home game with Old Chelmsfordians Reserves who beat Harold Wood Athletic Reserves 5-3. Harold Wood’s goals came from Josef Kollar 2 and Ronald Chamberlain
Division Four East
Horndon continued their great run of form with goal keeper Steve Northfield keeping his first clean sheet since April 2011 contributing to three goal victory over Ford Basildon Reserves. Ludlows took advantage of Rayleigh being in cup action to go top thanks to a 4-2 home win over White Notley Reserves. The visitors’ goals came from Philip Davis and Will Rigby.
Division Four West.
Newport managed made it consecutive victories thanks to goals from Toby Croucher, Richard King, Paul Schofield and an own goal against Fulbrook Royals who replied through Ian Aldridge and Martin Newman. Hatfield Broad Oak got off to a flying start against Doddinghurst Olympic with an early goal from Carlos Sanderson. Doddinghurst levelled when Ian Marshall netted the rebound from a penalty save. A poor defensive error by Gary Waplington put Nick Blakeman-Hayward clear for a cool finish to restore Hatfield Broad Oak’s lead. David Snowden levelled before half time then Trevor Sharpling netted Doddinghurst’s winner with six minutes to go. West Essex Reserves picked up their first points and win of the season thanks to first half goals from Phil Curran and Damien Friel. Old Parmiterians A team pulled one back in the second half but could not find an equaliser
