Hawkwell Athletic certainly did it the hard way to make progress to the next round at the expense of Old Parmiterians Reserves. Things started really well when they took the lead after just 46 seconds however things turned against them after seven minutes when Old Parmiterians levelled from the penalty spot with Dave Blyth dismissed for denying the goal scoring opportunity. The ten men then took the lead in the second half and looked like hanging on until they conceded a second penalty with seconds remaining. This was successfully converted to send the game into extra time. Three goals within the first five minutes of extra time saw Trevor Sallery complete his hat trick and Old Parmiterians score from open play to leave Hawkwell 4-3 up. The drama wasn’t over as Hawkwell gave away their third penalty of the match, this one was saved after a re-take was ordered. Hawkwell played out the last four minutes with nine men after Mark Cheevers was sent off for a second caution. The other Hawkwell scorer was Damian Connor. Also needing extra time were Tillingham Hotspur who scored twice in the extra period against Ryan after the teams had shared four goals in normal time.  Other teams making the Quarter Finals are Dunmow Rhodes after their 3-2 win over White Ensign, Cricketers Horndon Saxons 2-0 victors against Collier Row and Sporting Club Woodham after their 4-1 triumph at Bishops Stortford.
