PREMIER DIVISION LEAGUE CUP FINAL
Premier Division Cup Final
Little Thurrock Dynamos (LTD) v Port of London Authority(PLA)
The last Cup Final of the league programme did not disappoint as the Premier League finalists served up some really good football. LTD were relying on others to take League Honours but here they got into their stride immediately putting PLA on the backfoot. As they pushed forward Jason McNaney moved across from the right wing to the left and let fly a dynamic left foot shot which Alan Moore in the PLA goal got his finger tips to but couldn’t keep it out and LTD went one up. Although they had most of the pressure it was not until the 37 minutes that LTD found a way to increase their lead and a left foot volley by Dave Moran was how they did it and that’s how it stood at half –time.
The second period was a whole different ball game with PLA coming out with a totally different attitude taking the game to their opponents and with a better directed shot in the tenth minute would have halved the arrears. They continued in the same vein for the next half hour with no goals to show for their efforts and LTD found few avenues to goal until five minutes to go when Terry Hornsby wriggled free of the off-side trap rounded the goalie and increased their lead to 3-0.
A good crowd applauded both sides for a good game and welcomed Bob Brimacombe who presented the medals to both teams and the match officials, with Terry Epstein being presented with the Premier Division Cup.
