MATCH REPORTS 11TH JANUARY 2014


Premier Division

Met Police Chigwell will be delighted they don’t have to play White Notley again this season. Having lost to them twice already this season, conceding four goals each time, this time they found themselves five goals down at half time as Gavin Bensley and Mark King both scored braces and Neil Twin got the other for the visitors. In the other game that survived in the Premier Division Chipping Ongar beat Frenford Senior 2-1.

Division One

Newbury Park found Old Parmiterians Astroturf to their likely as they scored four goals without reply.

Division Two East

Sporting Club Woodham will be delighted they moved their game to Astroturf in Maldon as James Joliffe and Jason Sheppard both scored twice as they beat Hawkwell Athletic 4-1. Herongate Athletic will be left wishing Tillingham Hotspur’s West Field grass pitch didn’t drain as well as it does as eight different Tillingham Hotspur players found the net. They were Simon Buckley, Dave Etheridge, Michael Hart, Scott Jones, Jonathan Walker, Clive Cherrie, Craig Tyrell and Neal Hales who scored twice to make the score 9-0.

Division Two West

Debden Sports gave up home advantage in order to get their game with Bishops Stortford played. The result was Debden Sports recording a “home” win as they triumphed by the odd goal in eleven. Bishops Stortford goals came from Joe Ferrick 2, Stuart Atkinson, Steve Preshous and Stuart Crowhurst.

Division Three East

Two late fixture alternations got games played in this Division. Old Chelmsfordians beat Hatfield Broad Oak 3-1 away after the fixture was reversed. Whilst Little Waltham won 3-0 at FOBS after the Clubs arranged the fixture following their original games falling victim to the weather.

Division Three South

Things were looking good for Ludlows at half time as goals from Hamish Crooks and Mark Read saw them drawing with League Leaders Little Thurrock A. The leaders stepped up a gear after half time and scored a further five times without reply to claim the points.

Division Three West

Mark Manangan gave West Essex Reserves the lead on twenty three minutes against LOASS. The host hit back when Anthony Chin scored with twenty minutes to go and Terry Sterling got the winner for LOASS nine minutes later.

Division Four East

Billy Walton scored for Forest Glade but it was only a consolation as Ford Basildon Reserves won 3-1

Division Four West

The top two in this Division reversed the fixture in order to get the game played. All the goals came in the first half as a Ricky Riches penalty and one from Michael Newson for Old Barkabbeyans meant Fulbrook Royals dropped points for the first time this season as they could only manage solitary reply from Martin Newman. Paul Killoran and Cy Taylor gave Hornchurch a 2-1 half time lead at Hatfield Broad Oak Reserves however the hosts ran out 5-2 winners by the end. The meeting of Spartan Athletic and West Essex A was a game of two halves. The first half belonged to West Essex A as they raced into a four goal lead as Dean Weatherly, Chris Hall, a Kevin Lavin penalty and an own goal provided the goals. After half time Spartan Athletic’s new signing and Peter Shearing hit back but in was not enough to deny West Essex A their firs League win of the season.

Over 45 Division

Herongate Athletic were rewarded for giving up home advantage to travel to Peverel as they came back with all three points. Steve Edkins scored for Herongate Athletic in the first half with Paul Boyden doing the same for Peverel. The game though was decided by Martin Westacott’s strike with ten minutes remaining.
