MATCH REPORTS 4TH MAY 2013

Premier Division

Hutton Old Boys now need a single point to be Premier Division Champions following their 3-1 win against White Notley. Leli Bajada, Norman McPhee and Michael Black scoring for the Champions elect, with Gavin Bensley replying for White Notley. Sungate’s relegation is nearly confirmed following their 10-1 defeat at Little Thurrock Dynamos. Frenford Senior have hit form at the right time to ensure Premier Division survival. Saturday’s 3-2 win against Shenfield has their fourth maximum points haul in their last five games. Bowers & Pitsea (Vichouse) are also in with a chance of avoiding the drop after beating Springfield 3-1.

Division One

Manford Way went top of the Division on goal difference thanks to two goals from Che Stadhart, one from Lee Woodhouse and a twinkle toed effort from Tom Hegarty against Old Chelmsfordians. The score line doesn’t tell the full story of the game as Old Chelmsfordians made Manford Way fight all the way for their victory. In the other game Beacon Hill Rovers ran out 8-0 winners against Herongate Athletic.

Division Two East

Mark Dunn gave Hawkwell Athletic the half time lead against Sporting Club Woodham but they could not hold on to the victory as Matthew Vaughan equalised in the second half. Although this was enough to take them back to the top they still need a victory from their final game to confirm promotion. At the other end of the table Dunmow Rhodes 4-2 win against FOBS (East Hanningfield) meant they will stay in Division Two with Pavilion United going down after two goals from Mark Barry and one from Dennis Rodway weren’t enough to earn them any points against Leigh Ramblers. Howard Mackler’s twenty second and twenty third goals of the season and strikes from Gary Matthews and Marvin Parsons gave Leigh Ramblers a 4-3 win.

Division Two West

Congratulations to West Essex who gained promotion to Division One after a six year absence. An Anthony Chugs hat trick including one from the penalty spot as well as strikes from Steven Crook and Chris Bangura gave them a 5-1 win over Blackmore Royals. West Essex need a point against Collier Row on Tuesday to win the title or three points against Hale End Athletic on Saturday. Bishops Stortford who currently sit in second can only wait and watch now as they completed their season with a double header against Hale End Athletic. Bishops Stortford did finish on a high though by winning both games, Nicholas Weekly, Andy Bates and Andrew Green scored in the 3-1 with Christopher and Andy Bates getting the goals in the 2-1 win.  In the other game in the Division Harold Wood Athletic beat Old Parmiterians Reserves 9-1.

Division Three East

Chelmer Vets now need just two points for promotion as they came back from 3-2 down at half time against Great Baddow. Wayne Webb 2 and Terry Holland had given the visitors the lead however Wayne Backhouse took his season’s tally to eighteen with a hat trick and Simon Marshall scored the other to give Chelmer a 4-3 win. Silver End United now only have very slim chances of promotion as they went down by the only goal of the game against Shenfield Reserves. White Roding will be wishing the season could continue as they won for the fourth game on the trot. This time Peverel were their victims as hat tricks from Barry Rawlinson and Fraser Higgs a brace from Douglas Rowe and single strikes from Matthew Copland and Lee Foster gave White Roding a 10-0 win.

Division Three South

Champions Little Thurrock A kept up their goal scoring form with an 8-1 win over Leigh Ramblers. Runwell Town are now favourites for the runners-up spot after Steve Skinner and Michael Bacon gave them a 2-1 victory over Ford Basildon who had been in second place.

Division Three West

Heath Park could have sealed the title at the weekend when playing their double header with Paringdon, however they went down to their first defeat of the season to a Third Division side losing one game 1-0 and they drew the other 1-1. Debden Sports will be joining Heath Park in Division Two and could still deny them the title as a result of their 8-1 win over North Weald. Terry Sharpe scored for Met Police Chigwell Reserves in the first half as did Spencer Joseph for William Fitt as they shared the spoils. Westhamians beat Sanders 3-2 thanks to goals from Kevin Humphreys, Patrick Kelly and Seth Wilkins.

Division Four East

Hutton Old Boys Reserves are looking for a promotion an Cup double as they moved up to second place following their 4-1 win over Ford Basildon Reserves. Horndon matched their Club record of nine wins during the season by beating Academy Soccer 4-0 which included two goals from Michael Westmore and one from Kevin Free. Hannakins Farm won 7-0 at Runwell Hospital, their scorers being Wesley Wren 2, Puran Sadnani 2, Dan Alberici, Stuart Roberts and Rasmus Stockholm.

Division Four West

There was an amazing turn around in the Harold Wood Athletic Reserves and Hornchurch game. Hornchurch deservedly lead 3-1 at half time as some nice link up play between the forwards and midfield produced goals from Chris Marshall 2 and Lee Nightingale. When Lee Nightingale added his second on 52 minutes Hornchurch must have thought they had the points sown up even though they were playing against the slope and wind. However five goals from Harold Wood Athletic Reserves in the last twenty minutes gave them victory.
