Apr 18, 2014 — Premier Division League Cup Final


Hutton Old Boys 1 Manford Way 3 Manford Way finally broke the spell of always being the bridesmaid and never the bride as they came from behind to beat Hutton Old Boys. Liverpool Fan Chris Lee conducted a Hillsborough Tribute as the game kicked off at 7.37pm. After an even start to the game Craig Daniels in the Hutton Old Boys goal couldn’t believe his luck in the 14th minute when Manford Way’s Chris Anderson arrived unmarked at the far post but only succeeded in placing his shot straight into the keeper’s midriff.

Mar 23, 2014 — Division Two League Cup Final Match Report


Heath Park FC v Writtle FC Venue: Billericay Town FC On a chilly but bright afternoon Billericay Town FC welcomed the first of the leagues Cup Finals for 2014 and a tight tense affair it proved to be. Both teams ensured there was little time for either side to settle as anyone with the ball was closed down very quickly which meant forwards had little time to dwell on the ball and therefore there were few goal-scoring opportunities. However the deadlock was broken after twenty-three minutes when Paul Hayes drifted over to the right wing, a deft through ball saw him just the right side of the defence to avoid an offside decision and from a narrow angle he put Heath Park one up.

Sadly Sir Tom Finney passed away recently. This led to some reminiscing in the household of Dave Etheridge of Tillingham Hotspur. During the Second World War Sir Tom Finney fought in Montgomery's Desert Rats in Egypt along side Dave’s Dad Geoffrey. The photo shows Sir Tom on the left and Geoffrey on the right.

Feb 22, 2014 — Match Reports 15th February 2014


Essex Saturday Veterans Cup Quarter Finals If there was an award for the variety of places to play home games then Debden Sports of Division Two West would be well in the running. This week they did a seventy mile round trip to Canvey Island to play Hutton Old Boys from the Premier Division on the 4G pitch at Waterside Farm. Hutton Old Boys won the first key item of the day, the toss, electing to play with the gale force wind and rain at their backs. Picture is Peverel
